Artwood Twin - Limited Edition

The Ibanez 2670 Professional Series Artwood Twin is such an iconic Ibanez guitar that the Ibanez Collector’s World website (ibanezcollectors.com) uses it in their logo. To Ibanez collectors, the 2670 epitomizes the guitars of what they term “Ibanez’s Golden Age,” the copy and original design guitars made by Ibanez from the mid-1970s till about 1982.

Which is one of several good reasons to make the stunning 2670 the perfect guitar for the second Ibanez handcrafted reissue (the first was the Bob Weir “Cowboy Fancy” guitar). Like the 2005 Bob Weir Model reissue, the Artwood Twin is made in a small Japanese shop which employs luthiers that actually crafted the original models. Unlike the Bob Weir model, which had to be recreated without the original blueprints since those had been lost, the 2670RE was recreated using all of the original blueprints and specifications. Only one specification has been changed: the original Super 70 pickups have been changed to Super 58 pickups which feature a sandblasted old-style Ibanez “spaghetti logo.” There will only be 45 of the Ibanez Artwood Twins. Each model will be numbered.

There were two slightly different versions of the Ibanez 2670 Artwood Twin, one from 1975 thru 1977 and one from about 1978 thru 1980. The first featured the old Ibanez “spaghetti” logo on the headstock, spaghetti logo on the pickup covers and metal tuning machine key grips. The second featured the modern Ibanez “block” logo on the headstock, the Ibanez Flying Finger design (a hand with butterfly wings with extended forefinger) on the pickup covers and ornate pearloid keys.

The reissue is based on the first version.
